The Liebster Award!

Now I know I only usually post on Monday's but I've been nominated to do the Liebster Award by the lovely Chantelle from chantzlouisexo.blogspot.co.uk I have seen this award going all around the blogging community lately and so I was so excited to see that I have been tagged!.

The rules of the Liebster Award are as follows:

  • You must link back to the person who nominated you.
  • You must answer the 11 questions given to you by the person who nominated you.
  • After completing these questions you must nominate 11 bloggers and give them 11 questions of your choice to answer. (Must have less than 200 followers)
  • You are not allowed to nominate the person who nominated you.
  • Make sure you let the nominee's know that they have been nominated and provide a link to your post for them, so they are able to learn about it.
These are my answers to the questions that Chantelle provided me with:

1. Who's your favourite blogger?
Zoella, I know she's mainly on youtube but I absolutely adore her blogposts, I just can't fault them. Her content is amazing and I enjoy reading each post.

2. Where would you love to go on holiday too?
California, hands down! Even if it's only for a couple of days, I am determined to get there some day.

3.What is your favourite clothing brand?
Topshop, easily. About 80% of the clothes in my wardrobe come from there, I'm not even joking haha!

4. How many times a month do you like to blog?
Well I have only just started blogging this month but so far I just post every Monday.

5. Who is your idol and why?
The Olsen twins. As a child I absolutely loved this pair, I watched every film, TV series and now as fashion designers I look up to them immensely. They show that with a little hard work you can do a lot and designing a wedding dress is a pretty big accomplishment for them. This is getting a little cringey but if you're passionate about something, even just a little. Never give up.

6. Who would you not like to be stranded on a desert island with?
Vanessa Hudgens. I don't know, there's just something about her I really don't like. Like even her voice irritates me.. is that bad?

7. What is your favourite colour?
Just take a good, long, hard look at my blog and take a guess.. yep you guessed right... It's pink!

8. What beauty product could you not live without?
Concealer, this stuff is a live saver when it comes to hiding my blemishes and dark circles. My favourite is the Maybelline 'Instant Age Rewind'.

9. What is your best beauty tip?
Be daring. Don't be afraid to try something new whether that be a new colour of eyeshadow or a blush. Just have fun with it.

10. What is your favourite film?
The first installment of 'The Hunger Games'. I enjoyed the film that much that I purchased each book and spent a day on each, I don't regret a second.

11. What's a random fact about you?
I love to collect things. As a child I began collecting badges, then it was Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon cards (Yep, I went there!) and magazines, oh I was obsessed with those subscribed ones I insisted I had every issue of Zoey 101 and Felicity Wishes. (I was a cool child I know, hahah!) Then I think I even started collecting rocks that you find on the beach... I was rather fascinated by glass pebbles.. I guess now that has just lead me into keeping a make-up and clothing collection but don't worry! This collection definitely isn't just a 'phase'.

Questions for my nominee's
1.Do you have any pets? If so, what are they?
2.What is your best childhood memory?
3.If you only had 24 hours to live, what would you spend your time doing?
4.What is your biggest fashion must-have?
5. What was your biggest fashion/beauty/hair error as a child? (Mine has got to be those panda eyes!!)
6. What is your favourite food?
7. You have 60 seconds in your favourite store, what do you grab and why?
8. What inspired you to become a blogger?
9. Do you have any tips for new bloggers?
10. Do you have any bad habits?
11. If you could have a dinner party with 3 celebrity guests, who would you invite and why?

And the nominees are..

Summer Essentials: Clothes, Beauty and Random

So I guess that everyone has those absolute summer must haves which they absolutely swear by, so I just thought I would show you those things that I just can't live without this summer!

Clothes:

Bralets

For me these are an absolute must in any girls wardrobe! They just add a cute and simple edge to any outfit and are perfect when paired with literally anything high waisted; jeans, shorts, skirts you name it and they go with it! For me personally, cute and lacy bralets are my absolute go to when wearing high waisted skirts or if you're wearing a low cut top from the side and don't really fancy risking it in a bandeau a bralet is the one for you! A perfect and versatile item needed in every girls wardrobe.

Baggy, lightweight tops

Now I get that if you've got an amazing figure in the summer I suppose it is one of the best times to show it off and tight fitted clothing is obviously perfect for that but I for one, don't particularly find it comfortable wearing anything skin tight when you're pretty much just sweating your ass off in the heat outside. Comfort is my absolute priority lately and it's still possible to look cute even if you're in something baggy so to me that's an absolute bonus!

                                      Floral Print

Now the most perfect way of getting into the summer spirit is by adding a little flower power to your life. Everyone loves flowers, you just can't go wrong with them. Now when it comes to wearing bold prints I honestly become so nervous and feel like everybody is just going to stare at me, now that may sound a little bit silly but it's true! So just remember when it comes to print it can be subtle too just like this beautiful, floral printed skirt from H&M, its' monochrome colours help to tone down this piece and I absolutely love it!

Comfy Cardigans
Now as I have probably said a million times before even though it is summer it can still get a bit chilly if you're living here in England so a cute, little cover up is perfect for those days when the sun may be out but the wind is too. I got mine from River Island and I absolutely love it, it's like one big blanket! Last time I went in there they still had some in so I'd definitely recommend getting one of these if you're planning on popping in there soon.

                                      Maxi skirts

Continuing with the comfort theme once again we come to the maxi skirt. To me this is perfect if you're travelling or just having a chill day down at the beach and you don't really fancy slipping into a bikini. If you're like me and have basically two milk bottles for legs then this is the perfect cover up for that as well as looking comfy, summery and cute. For me, it ticks all three boxes.

Cute Sandals

Now who doesn't love a pair of sandals for the summer? This must have just goes without saying! Find that 'right' pair and they will add some summer life to any outfit. But try to make sure your nail polish game is going strong before braving a pair of these, nobody wants to see your chipped toes girl!!

Beauty:

Lip Balm

Now this obviously goes without saying right?! I have pretty bad dry lips anyway so in this heat having 'cracked' looking lips really isn't cute! My personal favourites are the Maybelline 'Baby Lips' range and EOS

Bronzer

If you're a snowman like me then you'll completely understand the need for this. I honestly find it really hard to catch a tan too and with it being summer it's nice to look a little sun kissed, so contour with a light matte bronzer and you're good to go! Right now, I'm loving the Rimmel London 'Sun Shimmer' bronzer in light matte but if I'm feeling a little bit special that day you can't go wrong with the Benefit 'Hoola' bronzer.

Highlighter

Just like bronzer this helps to add a sunkissed glow to your face, applying a touch of highlight to the higher and more defined points of your face such as the bridge of your nose, your cupid's bow and from your crease to your brow bone will create such an impact when the sun catches your face. Perfect for brightening your face on those bright sunny days. I tend to use either the Topshop glow cream in the shade 'Polished' or for if I'm wanting more of a matte highlight the 'Flushed' palette by Urban Decay is perfect for this.

Bright nail polishes

If you aren't feeling confident going all out there clothing wise with bright colours and bold prints then a subtle bright nail is certainly the way for you to add a touch of summer to your look. For me, neon pink, orange and yellow are those colours that absolutely just represent summer. Painting your toes can be a cute, yet simple way to add some personality to those dull, black and brown sandals at the back of your wardrobe.

                                      Primer

For me this is an essential all year round but especially in the summer! The sun can be a pain sometimes and nobody wants their make up to melt off throughout the day so this helps to just about settle that problem. I'm currently loving the Benefit 'That Gal' primer if I'm going for a more brightened and dewy look or I typically use the Maybelline 'Baby Skin' on an average day to day basis.

Random:

Tumblr/Travel bottle

It's hot. You're sweaty. And so you're bound to be really thirsty this summer. This isn't just an essential, it's an absolute necessity! I'm currently obsessed with the Victoria's Secret 'Pink' range but if you're on a tighter budget I just picked a couple of bottles up from Poundland. Yes poundland!! They are non spill PLUS when you've finished with them you can roll them up to save space in your bag, perfect!

                              Sunscreen

This may be a pain to put on but when you're walking around burnt to the crisp and as red as the sun itself you'll wish you had used it!! Try going for at least an SPF 15 but you can never be too sure and so I would absolutely recommend SPF 30. I am loving the Hawaiian Tropic Satin Protection right now, be sure to check out my previous post (Glamour beauty box review!!)  for a more in-depth review of this

                                 Vaseline spray and go!

If you're prone to dry skin then this stuff is going to become your best friend this summer. It does exactly what it says on the tin, just spray and go! It's quick drying and long lasting, what more could you possibly want? And the best thing is it smells like coconuts too! So if you're legs are looking a little dry just give them a quick spray and BAM! They're moisturised and beautifully scented! RRP: £4.99 Superdrug  (also available in 'aloe fresh' and non-scented!)

Shades

Once again perfect for protecting you from the sun (and helping you to actually see where you're going!!) but make sure to apply sunscreen as I don't think a burnt face and white eyes is the look you're going for, right?

                              Coconut Oil

If you haven't guessed already, I have a thing for all things coconut scented, I can't get enough of the stuff and to me it just smells of tropical beaches and palm trees; all things that ooze summer basically.. This is perfect for those days when you're running late, your hair is looking rather frizzy and with a quick few sprays of this and your hair is perfectly straight. I can honestly say since using this the appearance of my split-ends has definitely improved, bonus!!

So those are my absolute summer must haves, are yours any different? Let me know in the comments below!

Until next time..

LIB: The Glamour Beauty Edit - REVIEW!

Now it feels rather odd reviewing a box filled with 9 products perfectly designed to keep you looking fresh and dewy this summer when in England it is currently thunder storming outside, typical! I hate that. How are you supposed to know what look to go for when it's hot enough for no jacket but the rain insists on pouring down around you?! Anyway as I remind myself it actually is summer I am brought back to the 'Latest in Beauty' summer 'Glamour' edit. This is an amazing buy I must say, for only £16.95 plus free postage with a box filled with products worth a grand total of £86.15 it's a deal not to miss! The box contains nine, 'naked' products designed to give you a perfectly natural looking summer glow.

The first item which instantly caught my eye was the Rimmel London sun shimmer instant tan bb cream. Now I must admit false tan does scare me a little bit, especially when I noticed that I had been given this cream in medium; the darker shade of the two and with me being as a pale as a bottle of milk on most days. I freaked. But the product claimed to wash off so what could possibly go wrong? Absolutely nothing! Being a pale girl I do always fear of looking as though it is obvious I am wearing a fake tan of some kind but this product gives the perfect, natural summer glow. I absolutely love wearing bronzer and this product gives my face the same effect as that, with its' 9 in 1 effects it softens, smoothes, moisturises, gives an instant tan, creates a healthy looking glow, evens skin tone, covers, perfects and lasts up to 24 hours this an amazing substitute for foundation and bronzer, perfect for summer! My only criticism is it did actually tan any spots/imperfections that I had on my face but with a bit of concealer over the top of those and you're done! The perfect summer glow.
RRP: £6.99 Boots

The next product in the box is a cream blush in the shade 01 'Nude Velvet' by Bourjois. I have honestly never tried a cream styled blush before (Crazy, I know!) so this was an exciting first for me. The packaging for this is adorable, I really like the added touch of a mirror inside the compact. This product is very true to its' shade name, so much so it didn't even look as though I was wearing a blush. I naturally have slightly rose tinted cheeks so the product just defined this and gave me a healthy, dewy looking glow. If you're looking for a slight bit of colour that's natural and dewy then I definitely recommend this product! RRP: £7.99 Boots

As well as a cream blush I have also been keen to invest in a nude lipstick for a long time so when I noticed my Illamasqua lipstick had arrived in the shade 'Naked' I was delighted. Now, I have a thing for lip balms, I can't go anywhere without one and I cannot stand the feel of my lips being dry but for a lipstick this doesn't disappoint, it moisturises and feels smooth on the lips which I absolutely loved! However what disappointed me is that unfortunately the colour on my lips looked as though I had used the classy technique of foundation lips. If when trying this you feel the same way then I would definitely purchase a baby lips in the colour peach kiss, once I added this on top of the lipstick my lips became the perfect nude without losing that 'lipstick' effect. This is a beautiful shade and I definitely intend to try out the other six!! RRP: £18.50 Illamasqua

Then my attention is brought to the Magnifibres brush on false lashes, I'm personally not a fan of false eyelashes as mine aren't really that short so to me messing around with glue and the possibility of my lashes being stuck together doesn't particularly excite but this product however, is an absolute God send!! No glue, no mess just apply as though you would with mascara over the top of any mascara, coat with your own mascara again and BAM... your eyelashes are lengthened! (That was a lot of mascara talk!) The magnifibres stick to your actual lashes and dry almost immediately so this is perfect if you're running late to that summer BBQ, a great yet natural looking way to dramatise your look and lengthen those lashes without any falsies!! Definitely one of my favourites in this box by far! RRP: £21.00 Magnifibres

Next is this gorgeous sheer pink coloured nail polish by Crabtree and Evelyn in the shade 'Petal'. I was so pleased to see I received the pink rather than the deep satin red in my box as well there's nothing wrong with red but nothing else sparks summer more than a candy floss pink coloured nail. The finish to this polish is absolutely immaculate. I honestly still believed my nails were wet due to the amazing glossy finish that it leaves, giving your nails a smooth feeling finish, quite like you have had a fresh French manicure. To build the coverage up this did require using three coats of polish but this isn't a particular problem as most nail polishes require this and with its' quick drying formula I was done in minutes. Another perfectly natural looking product! RRP: £6.00 Crabtree and Evelyn

And now, no summer essentials are complete without some skin care! Next up is this deep cleansing oil by DHC, now being prone to spots I did worry placing more oil on my face would only end up backfiring on me however this little fella' certainly knows how to dig deep and remove even the toughest of dirt on the skin, (It removed the Rimmel London BB instant tan cream with ease!!) containing hydrating olive oil and vitman E it unclogs pores and removes dirt and grime. However it does say to avoid direct contact with eyes so unfortunately eye make up so whether or not it could remove the toughest of mascaras is a mystery to me. There is only a small hole for the product to come out from therefore ensuring no product is wasted as you can use small amounts with ease. Another brilliant buy!! RRP: £21.50 Selfridge's (200ml, the above picture is only 30ml)

As I said earlier the weather in England hasn't exactly been the greatest over the past couple of days and so I haven't yet managed to wear the Hawaiian Tropic satin protection sun tan out yet however to get a feel for the product I have done a quick tester on my hands. The product has a very soft feel to it which I personally think it's hard to find sun lotions which are not only protective but moisturising too so already just from the feel of this I can tell this is going to be an amazing product for when the weather finally decides to perk up.. The product is also scented, it doesn't actually state on the bottle what the scent actually is but to me it gives off a sort of peach-like, coconut smell, perfect for summer! So if you're into fruity smells this is definitely one for you! I know I haven't yet been able to test out its' SPF of 30 but with recommendations from the 'Skin Cancer Foundation' it seems very promising! Moisturising, water resistant and with an SPF of 30 what's not to love? RRP: £6.99 Gordon's (Current offer SAVE £7!!)

As I said earlier I don't actually use false tan very often, living in the UK you don't get much of a chance to get your legs out so I've never really been big on looking 'tan' besides my love for bronzer that's about as far as it gets. But nevertheless I'll review this as best as I can. 'The original tanning mitt' by 'Velvotan' contains a soft, velvety surface. This feels smooth on the skin as well therefore leaving a streak free finish and is designed with a special formulation-resistant barrier to protect your hands from staining. As well as being used to apply false tan this special mitt can be used for applying tinted moisturisers and the amazing Rimmel London instan tan BB cream also included within this box so even if you're not an all over body false tan girl like me this product will still find its' use in your beauty collection! RRP: £1.50 Tesco

Last but certainly not least is the Toni and Guy 'glamour volume plumping whip'.Apply a generous sized amount into the roots of your hair whilst towel dry then dry through using a barrel brush and BAM! Volume is achieved! Now, I honestly have the flattest hair in the world. I would go as far to say that it is probably flatter than a piece of flat bread. No but seriously, it is flat. But this product is perfect for giving your hair a slight bit of volume, nothing drastic just a natural looking hold. Once my hair was dry I was left with an all over full effect from root to end without leaving my hair looking frizzy. I believe this probably gives a similar effect to salt spray, just a classically beautiful, beachy styled look. This product quite like the Hawaiian Tropic sun tan lotion has the most amazing smell, rather than peaches this time there is more of a mango styled smell with a hint of fresh summer flowers which amazingly the smell lasts in your hair for hours! That's pretty impressive. RRP: £8.49 Amazon

So as you can see this is a box filled with 9 amazing must have beauty goodies and it doesn't even stop there! As well as all of this for just £16.95 inside the box are some exclusive offers for brands including Rimmel London and Strip. So how about that then aye? Not bad for £16.95! Interested? Then go and snap one up before they sell out now at: www.latestinbeauty.com

Until next time..

DIY Sparkling Strawberry Lemonade!

So with Summer well and truly on its' way, you're probably sat here imagining the antics of your summer vacation that's just round the corner, or like me you're sat here wishing you could fly away to the Maldives for a week.. Well if you're feeling the Summer blues then why not bring the taste of Summer to you with this sweet Starbucks/Costa inspired iced drink! So grab your deck chairs and beach towels, get out in the garden and enjoy a sweet and cool Summer drink, ready in just ten minutes!! This recipe serves around 8 people so grab your friends and get those BBQ'S out because Summer is here!

What you will need:

  • 1  and a half cups of strawberries
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 2 tablespoons of water
  • 1 cup of boiling water
  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1 cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice (*if you're using concentrated lemon juice like me, you will only need half a cup of this!)
  • 4 cups of sparkling water

                                     Hints and tips!

1. Ensure you use the same cup when measuring out each ingredient to create an equal measurement this applies to the strawberries, sugar, boiling water etc...

2. Slice the 'leafy' tops off the strawberries, nobody wants a drink full of leaves right?! You may also wish to remove the seeds but this does not particularly matter.

3. If you don't fancy sipping on some strawberry seeds, ensure to drain out your blended strawberry mixture into a sieve to separate the seeds from the mixture.

 How to make:

1. Add the strawberries, 2 tablespoons of sugar and 2 tablespoons of cold water into a blender and blend together until you are left with a purée like mixture.

2. In a separate bowl, add a cup of boiling of water and half a cup of sugar and stir together until the sugar has dissolved.

3. Once the sugar has dissolved, add the cup (or half a cup*) of lemon juice and then the strawberry mixture and blend together.

4. Finally, add 4 cups of sparkling water and mix together for the last time until the mixture is 'well combined'.

And there you have it, sparkling strawberry lemonade! Serve over ice for a more refreshing summer taste. Credits to Ali from 'GimmeSomeOven' for this recipe: http://www.gimmesomeoven.com/sparkling-strawberry-lemonade/#_a5y_p=1788254

I just simply came across this when scrolling through pinterest and thought I would share this with you guys!

NEW: Benefit 'They're Real Push Up Liner' - REVIEW!

Now, I for one am not particularly an expert when it comes to applying 'lid liner', I like a quick touch of kohl pencil on my waterline and then I am good to go. But when Benefit described this product as being "criminally easy" they certainly weren't wrong!

Throughout the past six months I have decided to introduce myself to using either a liquid eyeliner or a kohl eyeliner on my lids but neither have given me brilliant results. For me a kohl pencil usually fades on my lids after a few hours even when using a primer and it doesn't get much better with a liquid liner either... a jagged, clumped line across my lids isn't typically the look I aim for and during my attempts to fix this awful mess I begin to apply more and more eye-liner hoping for a straight line and well before you know it I have applied that much eye-liner my entire lids are covered and I look like a sad panda. (Cute, I know right?!) So when I first tried Benefit's 'They're Real! Push-up liner!' My relationship with eyeliners completely changed; we became best friends!

The patented AccuFlex tip is perfectly angled and I was able to apply my eyeliner in a straight line no matter which angle I held the pen at. I honestly have never tried a gel liner before but I am so thankful that I now have. The idea of having to use a brush and gel liner from a pot previously sounded like some kind of beauty nightmare to me, so whoever at Benetowers chosen to place this into a pen is my saviour!

To apply the eyeliner you simply turn the dial at the bottom of the pen until the product dispenses from the tip but do be careful with this as unfortunately the product does tend to come out fairly quickly and if you aren't careful it may clump at the tip. If this happens just simply clean the pen with a tissue, this did happened to me the first time I used this product and so unfortunately the product does have a 'waste issue' but all the same this eyeliner is extremely long wearing with no flaking or fading even without a primer! I was genuinely amazed! The product on the whole is also fairly waterproof but this can cause a problem when attempting to remove the product; spending ten minutes rubbing the life out of my eyes with a facial wipe wasn't particularly a fun experience and so I would definitely recommend using the Benefit 'They're Real! Remover' if possible.

On the whole this product would receive a 4 star rating from me due to its' minor 'waste issues' but its' easy application, long wearing effect and its' ability to 'hug the lashline' make this product unbelievably real! I would recommend keeping the orange card slotted into the product you receive when first purchased and placing this back into the tip when you have finished using the product to reduce the risks of 'product overload' and therefore lowering the amount of product wasted. And for even bigger eyes, pair this with the Benefit 'They're Real! Mascara' to allow your peepers to 'pop' even more, opening up your eyes and creating a sexy, dramatic yet simple look.

Have you tried this product too? Did it make your 'peepers pop' or turn you into the local panda? Let me know in the comments below, I would love for you to share your thoughts on this product!

Until next time..
