Don't wish for it, work for it!

Hello lovelies! First off, I just want to start by saying Happy New Year! I hope that you all had a lovely New Year's Eve last night however you chose to celebrate it and I wish you all the best of luck for 2015! Hopefully you are not all too hungover right now and dying in bed, if so... get well soon and I hope the night was worth it! In today's post I'm just going to be sharing with you my New Year's Resolutions and a quick little OOTN for what I wore on New Year's Eve!

1. Cut down on the junk food
I think it's safe to say that I've probably ate that much chocolate and cake throughout December that you could probably build a house out of it! This has lead to me feeling just a little bit on the groggy side of things and a pretty bad case of a spot breakout! I've decided in the New Year to have a treat day where I cut out cake and chocolate every other day of the month except the 16th because well my birthday is the 16th and it's a nice number in the middle. So I can have two weeks either side of the month to be good and that day in the middle to splurge!

2. Get into shape
This is probably on just about everybody's New Year's resolution list but I have always wanted to have a toned stomach but I just always lose the motivation and would much rather eat pizza and ice cream in bed all day. As lovely as that may sound, it probably isn't a great idea for my body and so this year I really want to get on with eating less junk and making myself feel good about myself.

3. Have my own blog domain
I'm not too sure how I should go about this and where is the best place to go but I really would love to have my own blogger domain. I just think it would feel as though Clarke Couture really is MY website rather than it still technically belonging to blogger. I really want my blog to grow in 2015 and I think having my own domain is a great place to start.

4. Have my own customised blog template
At the moment I am overly fairly happy with how my blog is looking, I love my new header and the signature I've just added but I still feel like there's something missing and so I would love to work on this once again to help my blog grow in the New Year.

5. Aim for A*AAB in my A-Levels
This is a big goal, I know and I don't even need to do this really. I have already been accepted into uni as long as I get a maximum of 3 B's but I just want to do this for myself. If you didn't already know, I'm currently studying Sociology, English Lang and Lit combined, Photography and Extended Project. I was only 1 mark off an A in my English last year and would love to push this to the A in the New Year.  For some reason, although I got a B in photography last year it's impossible to get an A, it's either a B or an A*. I'm currently working at an A and achieving 79/80 on both units will be tough but I'm determined. In sociology I've had A's in every essay throughout this year so far and so would love to achieve this at the end of the year.

6. Have a more positive outlook
I am on the whole quite a negative person. So much so, that I don't even call it being negative. I see it as being realistic. Some may say, this harsh attitude may get me nowhere in life and so I am going to try my hardest to change this and hopefully I'll be a much happier person by the end of the year.

7. Begin a journal
As a method to help battle my negativity, I've decided to start writing a journal. This is something I used to do as a kid, particularly on holiday and I would look back at all the happy memories I have and it really does put a smile on your face. So from now on, if something good happens to me in a day I'll write about it and then when I'm having a bad day I could look back through my journal and realise how much good I have in my life to conquer the bad.

8. Stop comparing myself to others
Another problem that comes with my negativity is comparing myself to others. I constantly judge myself based on the ability of others and ultimately put myself down quite a lot as a result of this. I don't hate myself as a person, don't get me wrong but say I'll watch a girl on YouTube and wish I could do my make-up as good as her or someone will get an A in a test I got a C on and I'll wish I could have done better. But end of the day, as long as you put in 110% effort into everything that you do then that should be all that matters. Be YOURSELF because NOBODY else can do YOU any better.

9. Communicate with my family more
When I was little my dad would always tell me about the importance of family. You choose your friends and they come and go but you always have your family and so you should value that. All my family live together in one small area whereas me and my mum live the furthest away from all of them, not intentionally that's just how things have happened. I feel this year I should try to make more effort and become close to some of them again. Particularly the younger generation who are only 2, or 3 years younger than myself. Fun fact, I'm the eldest.

10. Don't be afraid to try new things
Lastly, my favourite word is 'No'. I use this word far too much even with things I've never even tried, I just assume that it isn't for me or that I won't like it. I'm becoming all sappy here but at the end of the day we only get one life, we may as well gain as many experiences as we can out of it. So I dare you, pick a day. Any day and spend that day saying yes to everything you are asked, you'll be amazed how differently things may become if you start to give them a go.

What I wore: New Year's Eve

Kimono: Topshop
Top: H&M
Jeans: Topshop
Shoes: Topshop
Choker: Topshop

As I only went round to my sister's for a meal and some drinks with the family, I opted for this casual yet edgy outfit and dressed it up a little with the velvet and lace kimono alongside a silver and black smokey eye.

So I hope you liked this post! Let's spread the positivity into the comments and let me know down below what are your New Year's resolutions for this year! Until next time,

Best wishes for the New Year! Let's all smash 2015!!

Love,
Toni, x

  9. Love your outfit! Your goals are all on point! Since updating the look of my blog and (finally) having the motivation to post/write more often, I really feel like 2015 may actually be the starting point to some serious blogging lol Having a domain is also something I would love. I also think that having a [dot]com rather than blogspot[dot]com shows/looks well-established... girl, don't get me started with getting into shape. I've been telling myself for the ast 5 years haha
Hope you had a fun and festive Christmas x

I also have a A MAC Lipstick Giveaway (of your choice) happening RIGHT NOW on my blog ;)

May your NEW YEAR fill you with joy and prosperity

And ahaha I know right but after the amount I ate this Christmas I definitely need to shed some pounds haha!

You too lovely! Happy New Year x

  11. You can stay on Blogger but still have your own domain (.com), although I moved from Blogger to Squarespace in June because the themes are so professional/smart looking and you get a domain name in with the annual fee. You can try a 14 day free trial too with them. I think it's definitely the right move if you're serious about blogging :)

  16. Good luck with your resolutions! For your blog domain, there are loads of places you can grab one from - I did a lot of research and got mine from godaddy.com. You basically just type in the domain you want to see if it is available and if it is you can buy it! I think it's only around £3 for the year, and blogger makes it sooo easy to add your own domain to your blog!
