GUEST POST: Holiday Packing - Choosing The Essentials

Hello everyone! In today's post the lovely Remi will be discussing how she organises her suitcase when it comes to packing for a holiday. I've never featured a guest post before so I'm super excited for someone else to have a little share of my blog for this post! Remi doesn't yet have her own blog, but she definitely should her written ability is great, which you will discover if you continue reading..

For those of us who love to travel, there are those sweet problems (Where should I go next?) and those less sweet (Oh my God, what should I pack now?). You will never be able to enjoy all these new places if all you can think about is: ‘It’s so cold, I should have taken my sweater with me’ and ‘I’m going to hang myself for not packing my bikini this time’. There are a few things I’ve learned the hard way these past years, and in order to help you guys not fall into the same trap, I’m going to tell you a few things which might help you pack for your next trip.

Skin & Hair Care

Pack your morning and evening products, but don’t bother taking three different kinds of moisturiser, two different hand creams and four shampoos and hair conditioners. It just makes no sense and it will be a waste of space. For your face I’ll usually take travel-sized toothpaste, toothbrush, face wash and a moisturiser, and makeup remover wipes. Add shampoo, conditioner, body lotion and a razor, and you are pretty much good to go. I like to pack my makeup separately just to make sure nothing spills. I put protective caps on my brushes and generally avoid carrying too much makeup. I usually go with a few everyday products like mascara, foundation and a concealer, and I always bring a versatile eye shadow pallet that can produce a tone of different looks – in fact Toni talked about one of those in this post if you haven’t read it yet. And just in case I fancy a party, I’ll put on a pop of bright lipstick and I’m good to go.

What to Wear When You Get There

One of the things I learned on many of my trips: pack only pieces which pair up well! I consider leggings to be one of the greatest inventions of all times because they are super-comfy and pair up with pretty much everything: shorts, skirts and dresses alike. Tops should be light and bright, and I recommend bringing a black dress because it can be both causal and stylish. Scarves are my favourite, and I also like big chunky statement necklaces. And never again will I forget my bikini, I swear! Also, colourful kaftans are great to have too because they take virtually no space in your suitcase and make you look glamorous at the beach.

Roll it Up

Now, folding your clothes leaves it wrinkled and generally drives me crazy, so I choose to roll it up instead. I’m careful about it, though, since wrinkling is inevitable but can be minimized. On the plus side, this way my clothes take up far less space in my suitcase. Another advice - put your tops, dresses and scarves on top of your shoes and jeans, because that way these heavier things won’t squash them.
Making a list is always a good idea; it will eventually save you a lot of time and nerves. You can add things to your initial list or remove them if you decide they weren’t very helpful. If there were things you didn’t use at all on your last trip, chances are great that you won’t need them on the next one, too.

So I hope you liked Remi's post, she's really looking forward to all of your feedback! If you're nice enough, who knows it may be the well needed encouragement to create her own blog!! Until next time lovelies!
Toni, x
