15 Reasons Why Autumn/Winter Slays Spring/Summer

October to December is hands down my favourite time of the year. All of the festivities in the lead up to the Christmas period fill the latter part of the year with excitement. Even though I do adore the gorgeous summery weather and brighter, colourful clothes there's just something about the crisp autumn air which steals my heart each and every year.
Read on to discover just why autumn/winter is simply the best...

Hot drinks season
Although you can drink hot chocolates in the summer there's just something about cosying up by the fire with lots of blankets and a mug of warm cocoa and marshmallows on a cold winter's evening that you just can't beat. Plus, all hail the return of the pumpkin spiced latte. Yes, I am that basic.

Pumpkin picking
I love all things pumpkin. Pumpkin cake, pumpkin spiced lattes, pumpkin carving. And let's be honest, pumpkins make for some pretty cute Instagram photos.

Bonfires
Nothing speaks winter more than a cosy bonfire, bundled up in knits whilst you're roasting marshmallows and of course, more Instagram photo opportunities as you write your name with sparklers in the air. An evening of toffee apples, treacle toffee and fireworks... What more could you possibly want?!

Christmas markets
A complete strip of stalls filled with food, bath soap, bath bombs and christmas decorations galore. There's nothing more festive than spending your day drinking hot apple ciders, eating s'mores and spending your money on Christmas trinkets you really don't need but because it's Christmas well, why the hell not?!

Ice Skating
I'll be the first to admit that I'm terrible at ice skating. But regardless of my skating ability it truly does put me in the festive spirit and can be a real laugh for a day out with your friends.

Thanksgiving
Although this is traditionally an American tradition, I still love the sentiment behind the festivity. Sharing a meal with your family and giving thanks to everything you have to be grateful for this year. Warm home cooked meals surrounded by family truly are one of my favourite parts about the winter season.

Baking
There's just something about the smell of homemade warm cookies filling the air which really screams Autumn to me. There will be a few recipe posts live on the blog this month so keep your eyes peeled for that.. Halloween treats anyone?!

Black Friday
Half price Victoria's Secret? Yes please.

Room decor
Cosy throws, sparkly leaf wreaths, golden glittery pumpkins, knitted candle covers; the list could go on and on and on. I love homely interiors and the Autumn/Winter season is the perfect excuse to put to test some DIY's and give my room a much needed makeover.

Winter Wonderland
If you get a chance this winter, it is definitely worth paying a visit to London's Hyde Park for their annual Winter Wonderland festival. This year marks the festivals 10 year anniversary, venture down to explore the ice bar, Angel's Christmas markets, the ice sculpture maze and pick your thrills with an array of incredible fairground rides. It truly is a magical day out for all.

Movie days
Grab your blankets, a bowl of popcorn and a selection of Halloween/Christmas movies, invite over your best friends and you're good to go!

Pamper days
Who doesn't love pamper days?! And as soon as Lush release their holiday collection, every Sunday becomes the perfect excuse for a pamper day.

Sweater weather
Sweaters, boots, hats and scarves. Autumn/Winter fashion truly is a marvel.

Autumnal makeup
Those classic berry lips paired with a golden brown smokey eye. All hail party season beauty.

Long walks
With all of the festivities occurring this time of the year, sometimes we find ourselves too busy to actually truly take in the beauty of the season. Hearing that crunch as you walk among the leaves upon the floor, seeing the leaves change from a blossoming green to a golden burnt orange. And so, grab your boots, your camera and get yourself out there and explore.

Are you more of a Summer spirit or like mine does your heart truly lie with Autumn/Winter?!
Until next time,

What are you looking forward too this season?!
