Future Forward

‘To understand the living present and the promise of the future, it is necessary to understand the past.”
- Rachel Carson

Why hello there 2018. It’s that time of the year again when we’re all thinking about how stuffed we are still feeling after Christmas (the food coma was unreal) alongside the occasional thoughts of reflection on the past year and how ‘new’ we’re going to become hit January 1st. I hate to be cliché but... New year, new you? I don't think so.

I like to view things more like 'new year, new start'. Each year brings its own challenges, its own ups and downs; and 2017 has certainly has been filled with many of those. From spending a week in the sunny aisle of Tenerife, watching my first ever catwalk show on the front row to turning twenty-one; 2017 has brought with it many memories which will stay with me for a lifetime. However, there were of course down times and I'm beyond excited to welcome in a New Year with new goals and fresh beginnings. Side note: Also entering this year in all kinds of cosy with this teddy trucker jacket from Missguided, oversized and all forms of comf' af.

If I'm being completely honest, I am that person that always enters the New Year filled with motivation but I am terrible at actually sticking to my resolutions. Especially the fitness ones. Those are the worst! This year I'm determined to set myself more realistic goals which I might actually follow for once!

  • Read more - Working a 9 to 5 office job alongside my blog I don't often have the time to read, so this is definitely a task I want to aim towards. Putting aside half an hour or so before going to bed to read up on the latest fashion news to keep myself in the know!
  • Attend my first blogging event - It's been three years, I seriously need to do this!! I technically kind of have.. Although I was working rather than attending as a blogger.
  • Develop my photography skills - Something I have been saying for far too long. 2018 is the year this needs to happen.
  • Work on my confidence - I am far too shy when it comes to shooting outfit photos but I really want to produce more fashion/travel content in 2018, so it's time to embrace my inner confident fashionista. (Oh my that word makes me cringe)
  • Speaking of travel...
  • Eat clean - I've tried the gym. I hate it. It just isn't for me whatsoever and as a terrible snacker I've recently been making a conscious decision to change my sweet treats for healthier alternatives. Although, this has proven somewhat difficult during the Christmas period, January will definitely be the perfect time to start afresh.

What are your goals for 2018? You can check out my 2017 goals here. An update on this.. Well I completed some. Secure a fashion placement? Check!

Wishing you the happiest of New Year's and the best of luck for 2018!
Until next time,
